From Sunday school, choir and music, to vacation Bible school, St. Stephen provides fun opportunities for our youngest members and worshippers to be a part of the flock of Jesus our Shepherd!

Sunday School
Sunday School for ages preschool - grade 5 is offered during the education hour from 9:45 - 10:45 a.m.
All students meet together for an music session, then break into age groups. We use a rotation unit model, studying one subject for four weeks at a time. Students experience the Bible story through art, drama, science, cooking, and puzzles.
We follow the Urbandale Schools calendar, taking weeks off when students are on break, or when school is cancelled because of weather.

Wednesday Night
Activities are provided for ages preschool to grade 5 from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. during the school year. The Wednesday night activities are independent of the Sunday School, but follow the same four week themes. Students are divided into two age groups, getting half an hour of music, and half an hour of games or storytelling each week.

Vacation Bible School
A half-day program is offered daily for one week late in June for students ages preschool through grade 5. Students experience bible stories through songs, crafts, music, food and games. VBS is open to students in the surrounding community as well as members.

Children's Christmas Program
All Sunday School and Wednesday night students are welcome to participate in the children's Christmas program.

First Communion Class
The decision whether a student is ready to learn about and participate in the Sacrament of Holy Communion is best made by parents. Classes for students wishing to take first communion are offered each spring. Students attend with their parents and explore the meaning behind the meal. First Communion is usually celebrated on Maundy Thursday each year.

Baptism Classes
Classes for parents wishing Baptism of their children will be conducted by Pastor LeAnn and will be scheduled as needed.

Nursery
Saturday nights and Sunday mornings St. Stephen welcomes children into our worship services. We also provide a nursery service for children under three years old and younger during both Sunday morning services and the Sunday education hour. A nursery room with windows and speakers is located just inside the Sanctuary. Nursery is also provided during the Wednesday night activities and for Music Ministry.
